Oky Doky traces back to 1964, when Jack Thompson opened the first store at 22nd Street and Central Avenue - a former Winders Food Market he converted into the first of what eventually grew to twelve convenience stores across Dubuque, East Dubuque, Galena, and Freeport. The quirky name came from an expression Thompson liked to use as a kid, and the chain became such a local fixture that Dubuque Clothing Co. teamed up directly with the Oky Doky family to bring this classic design back.
