Meyers Tavern Throwback T-Shirt
The Meyers Tavern Throwback T-Shirt features a design found only at Dubuque Clothing Co., printed on a premium tee with soft, high-quality inks built to last.
Vernon Meyer ran his tavern at 530 E. 22nd Street from 1955 through at least 1989, and he found a clever workaround when a 1964 Iowa law banned taverns from advertising with words like "liquor," "bar," or "saloon" - putting up a sign that left plenty of regulars wondering if the owner's actual last name was "Booze." That kind of small-town regulatory dodge is exactly the sort of local legend that keeps a neighborhood bar's story alive for decades.
